Borough Of Spring Lake Heights 2008 Distribution Of Taxes

WE ARE # 1 !

At the high end of the spectrum, these five states have the highest median real estate taxes. (from highest to lowest according to 2006 Census Bureau Survey and Tax Foundation)

5 Worst States

Casagrande this additional position, overshadows any qualifications she may have for that position ! By pushing this through 2 days before a new Council takes office, Malick has again told the people that their votes do not matter and it's his way or the highway ! The people of the Heights deserve better than Malick and what we have had as representation !

Unhappy With Your Assessment?

The number one thing for anyone to do, if you feel your tax is incorrect is go to Borough Hall(out-of-town, call (732) 449-3500 and ask for Mary Grace Neuhaus) and request a copy of your "TAX RECORD CARD." This is the sheet that has all the information about your house.

Get a copy and study it carefully and look for errors! Did you have a garage and it was razed? It might still be on your card. Did you remove a bathroom? Change your siding? Everything you are taxed on should be on the card, so you should see the record of what you actually are being taxed on.

Don't let ANYONE tell you "you can't see that." It is PUBLIC RECORD; YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO IT!

Please forward this message to anyone you know who has been hit with the increase. If there is an error on your tax card, the assessor MUST fix it. So check first to see what you were rated on.

If you feel you have been adversely affected
by the new reassessment...

Please write to:

Mr. Mathew Clark, CTA
County Tax Administrator
Monmouth County Tax Board
Hall Of Records
1 East Main
Freehold, NJ 07728

Mr. Clark i Mitch Elias's boss. One of his job duties is to advocate for the residents. Remember, HE DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH ACTUAL TAXES - taxes are set by the Borough Council but if you feel that there is an INEQUALITY IN ASSESSMENTS throughout the town, then Mr. Clark is your man.

Write and tell him that you feel some areas of the town have been reassessed at a value that is too low compared to your neighborhood. Mr. Clark has the power to order that a compliance plan be filed with the State Tax Board and a reevaluation of the too-low areas be done.

Do not complain to him about your taxes, he has nothing to do with that but he does oversee the assessments, which is what you are taxed on. So, if you get some relief on your assessment, you could get relief on your taxes.

If you write to Mr. Clark, please also include copies to:

Mr. Thomas Byrnes,
Chairman, Monmouth County Tax Board
Hall Of Records
1 East Main
Freehold, NJ 07728

And:

The Hon. Jon Corzine
Governor, State of New Jersey
PO Box 001
Trenton, NJ 08625

It is important to do multiple copies, so everyone knows someone has an eye on someone else!
